IMIT Semifinals February 26th P&B Wrecking Crew Loss 28-27 In a heartbreaking finish, P&B Wrecking
Crew edged the Neon Ballerz 28-27 in the
IMIT semifinals, eliminating the team in
neon. P&B Wrecking Crew created
separation in the first half, leading for the
entire team period thanks to scrappy
play. However, the Neon Ballerz valiantly
battled back in the second half, seizing
their first lead of the game with under
five minutes remaining. After some
controversy on whether the Neon Ballerz
had an one-point or a three-point lead
in the final moments of the match, the
score was determined to be 27-26 with
P&B Wrecking Crew possessing the ball.
Amidst the confusion and sloppiness of
the final possession, David Shoemaker
of P&B Wrecking Crew was fouled and
proceeded to attempt two free throws
with roughly five seconds left. After the
first foul shot rolled in to tie the game,
the second attempt loudly clanked off the
back rim and a frantic scramble for the
rebound ensued. Following four seconds
of chaos, P&B Wrecking Crew secured the
rebound and a controversial foul was
called on the Neon Ballerz. The chilling
suspense broke when the first foul shot
dropped in the basket to propel P&B
Wrecking Crew ahead 28-27. The second
free throw was subsequently missed and
the Neon Ballerz finally secured the
rebound, calling a timeout with 0.4
seconds left. As a last-second heave failed
to touch rim, disappointment settled in
for the Neon Ballerz players, who knew
that several chances to close out the
game had been squandered. All in all, the
game was a wild, tragic finish to the
season that will undoubtedly fuel the
Neon Ballerz's championship hopes next
year.
IMIT Quarterfinals February 25th The Rattlers Win 34-27 In the first round of the IMIT, the
Neon Ballerz and the Rattlers played in a
tightly contested match, with the usual
stars ultimately leading the Neon Ballerz
to victory. Hampered by flu-like
symptoms, Shane McCandless overcame
the agony to dominate down the stretch
while Corey McElhinney also took control
of the offense late. On the defensive end,
the Neon Ballerz conquered the efforts
of point-center Youssef Nassar, who was
unceremoniously ejected in the waning
seconds of the game.
IMBA Season Game February 19th Asian Invasion Win 58-32 The Neon Ballerz handled Asian Invasion
with ease on Sunday, capping off the
season with a fourth straight win and
scoring a season-high 58 points. Asian
Invasion failed to contain the Neon
Ballerz's high-octane offense, as Justin
Korman contributed 11 points and
several other players chipped in to the
onslaught. On the downside for the Neon
Ballerz, they committed too many fouls
and subsequently dropped out of
contention for the Alpha Division 5th
seed.
IMBA Season Game February 18th Everything With Ease Win 31-24 Using a strong second-half performance,
the Neon Ballerz defeated Everything
With Ease to avenge an early-season loss
to them. With the win, the Neon Ballerz
have climbed to victory in five of the last
six games, strongly closing out a regular
season inundated with early troubles.
IMBA Season Game February 12th T&B Medical Win 36-25 Behind a scintillating performance from
Shane McCandless, the Neon Ballerz
trumped a rejuvenated T&B Medical team
to improve their record to 11-9. The win
secured the Neon Ballerz's control over
the Alpha Division 6th seed and provides
them with an opportunity to seize the
Alpha Division 5th seed in the I.M.I.T.
IMBA Season Game February 8th ImBAE's Win 52-45 Propelled by Owen Burkett's monstrous
22 point game, the Neon Ballerz escaped
the ImBAE's in a barnburner. The team
compensated for the absence of star
Shane McCandless by producing a
well-rounded effort. Oliver Rose made his
second three-pointer of the season, much
to the delight of the Neon Ballerz crowd.
IMBA Season Game February 5th Fitted Cuts Loss 71-46 Opening the 2nd half with a 21-9 run, the
Neon Ballerz narrowed a 21 point deficit
at halftime to 9. However, the Fitted Cuts
battled back, ending the game on a 23-7
run and disintegrating the upset hopes of
the Neon Ballerz. The inability to corral
defensive rebounds, prevent fast-break
lay-ups, and guard the Fitted Cuts'
three-point assault ultimately doomed the
Neon Ballerz.
IMBA Season Game February 4th T&B Medical Win 40-20 Playing with fervor, the Neon Ballerz
cruised to their second straight victory,
outscoring T&B Medical 25-11 in the
second half. The #WHYNOTUS message
evidently resonated with the team, as their
play was charged with jubilant energy.
IMBA Season Game January 30th Sugar Daddy's Win 48-39 The Neon Ballerz snapped a two-game
losing streak with a 48-39 victory over the
Sugar Daddy's. The eccentric game was
highlighted by a string of three emphatic,
roaring dunks by Shane McCandless.
IMBA Season Game January 29th Quiz Ballers Loss 19-16 Despite a 10 point contribution from
Joshua Miller and a seemingly endless
stream of rebounds by Owen Burkett, the
Neon Ballerz mustered a pathetic 16
points for the entire game. The themes of
the game for the Neon Ballerz were
turnovers and missed free throws- the
team inexplicably attempted 14 foul shots
and converted none of them.
IMBA Season Game January 21st Cod Pros Loss 46-27 After a competitive first half in which both
teams played tough basketball, the Neon
Ballerz failed to keep up with the Cod Pros,
getting outscored by 15 points in the
second half.
IMBA Season Game January 18th Beverly Hillbillies Win 57-34 What was a tight contest early in the first
half quickly spun out of control as the
Neon Ballerz, firing on all cylinders,
compiled an 18-0 run late in the first half to
gallop away from the Beverly Hillbillies.
IMBA Season Game January 15th Gator Squad Loss 27-25 In contrast to the previous loss to Megan,
the Neon Ballerz got off to a quick start,
scoring the first five points of the game, against a Gator Squad team missing their
superstar. However, the result this
go-around remained the same as the Neon
Ballerz failed to sustain their early lead and
suffered another loss, albeit a
heartbreaking one this time. Down by two
with under ten seconds in regulation, the
Neon Ballerz were gifted with two open
shots by Gator Squad with an opportunity
for an extension of the game into overtime.
Unfortunately, both shots -- a five-foot
jumpshot and a two-foot tip-in -- harshly
clanked off the rim and sent the Neon
Ballerz out of the gym on a somber note.
IMBA Season Game January 7th Megan Loss 35-26 A slow start to the game by the Neon Ballerz
carried over to the rest of the game as
Megan seized the lead early on and never
relinquished it. Turnovers played a key
role in the outcome of the game- the
Neon Ballerz had particular difficulty
maintaining control of the basketball.
IMBA Season Game December 22nd ImBAE's Win 47-27 The Neon Ballerz topped off the calendar
year with a dominant showing against

three-pointer, the Neon Ballerz exploded to
a 24-4 lead in the first half.
IMBA Season Game December 19th Fitted Cuts Loss 64-22 A three-game winning streak was snapped
on Sunday as the Neon Ballerz suffered a
humilitating fourty-two point loss. Short on
depth again, with three players missing, the
Neon Ballerz's score was nearly tripled by
the Fitted Cuts' point total.
IMBA Season Game December 12th Sugar Daddy's Win 45-34 The Neon Ballerz received quality
contributions from several players and held
off a daring run by the Sugar Daddy's to
win their third consecutive game heading
into a duo of tough contests with playoff
implications next weekend.
IMBA Season Game December 11th Quiz Ballers Win 25-22 The Neon Ballerz partook in another game
that came down to the wire, but once again
pulled out a victory by a slim margin.
Down by three points, the Quiz Ballers had
the opportunity to tie the game with a three
pointer in the waning seconds, but they
were stifled by suffocating defense from the
Neon Ballerz guards.
IMBA Season Game December 5th Asian Invasion Win 39-30 Highlighted by a thunderous dunk by
Shane McCandless and Oliver "Jorts" Rose's
third successive game with a basket, the
Neon Ballerz rolled to a 39-30 victory over
Asian Invasion. The game was punctuated
by aggressive rebounding by the Neon
Ballerz big men and smooth passing and
lock-down defense by the entire team.
IMBA Season Game December 3rd Cod Pros Loss 37-14 With key contributors Shane McCandless,
Justin Korman, and Jackson Harper missing
action, the Neon Ballerz mustered a meager
four points in the second half. Despite

consecutive game with a score, the Neon
Ballerz were unable to propel themselves to
victory, as they were outscored 21-4 after
halftime.
IMBA Season Game November 30th Beverly Hillbillies Win 40-36 A losing record was short-lived as the Neon
Ballerz returned to their winning ways,
defeating the upset-minded Beverly
Hillbillies 40-36. Several players capitalized
on increased opportunities to play,
including Oliver "Jorts" Rose, who
scored his first four points of the season
and received a standing ovation when he
made his first basket.
IMBA Season Game November 21st Gator Squad Loss 36-27 In the second game of a back-to-back, the
Neon Ballerz struggled both offensively and
defensively as turnovers were abundant
and shot selection was poor. With the loss,
the Neon Ballerz took on their first losing
record in team history in the IMBA.
IMBA Season Game November 20th Everything With Ease Loss 22-20 Following a well-rounded game in their
opener, the Neon Ballerz came out of the
gates sluggish, scoring a meager seven
points in the second half thanks to
stagnation at the offensive end. With the
game tied at 20 inside the last 30 seconds,
Everything WIth Ease applied aggressive
defense, forcing a turnover and leading to
a go-ahead lay-up in the final seconds.
IMBA Season Game November 6th Megan Win 35-30 In their season debut, the Neon Ballerz looked impressive out of the gates, putting
together a double digit lead early in the first
half against their foe. In spite of this
outburst, Megan quickly closed the gap,
eventually tying the match at 18 apiece
early in the second half. Thanks to the solid
play of stars Corey McElhinney and Shane
McCandless, the Neon Ballerz responded to
this run by regaining a commanding lead
and in the end, some late-game heroics by
Megan proved to be too little, too late, as the Neon Ballerz claimed their first victory of
the season.
HoopsFest Tournament Game #1 July 23rd Shake N Bake* Loss 20-8 Neon Ballerz big man Owen "Squatch"
Burkett's debut for the Neon Ballerz
summer league squad was tarnished by
the crafty play of eventual champion
Shake N Bake. The highlight of the match
for the team in neon was Mike "Hopp
Pockets" Hopp nailing a three pointer
from a designated pizza spot on the court,
thus earning him a free pizza.
HoopsFest Tournament Game #2 July 23rd Bedford Ballerz* Loss 20-10 In a rematch with the Bedford Ballerz
from last year's tournament, the Neon
Ballerz played more competitively, but
ultimately lacked the offensive firepower
to defeat their arrogant opponent.
HoopsFest Tournament Game #3 July 23rd Prime Velocity* Loss 20-10 With a win in their third game most likely
guaranteeing a playoff berth despite having
lost the first two matches, the Neon Ballerz
were determined to squeeze out a victory.
For much of the game, the cohesive unit of
four dressed in bright yellow refused to
allow injuries to two players and scorching
heat dishearten their urge to win.
However, in the end, following consecutive
treys by Joshua Miller that got the Neon
Ballerz within four points, the Neon Ballerz
were held scoreless for the remainder of
the game, and as a consequence, were sent
packing.
Bob Perks Tournament Game #1 June 4th Gladiators* Win 8-7 Playing with physical and tenacious defense,
the neon-clad quartet of Michael Hopp,

opposition. Korman led the way with six
points and the go-ahead lay-up.
Bob Perks Tournament Game #2 June 4th Belle City Ballers* Loss 16-2 After squeaking out a win against the
Gladiators, the Neon Ballerz were
emphatically shut down by the Belle City
Ballers and their smooth, multi-pronged
attack. Before breaking into much of a
sweat, the Neon Ballerz were defeated
thanks to a flurry of backdoor cuts,
shooting, and crossovers by the opponent.
Bob Perks Tournament Game #3 June 4th Toon Squad* Loss 15-7 Although the Neon Ballerz semi-effectively
combatted the Toon Squad's obvious
advantage in size and rebounding with
determined defense and hustle, offensive
inefficiencies derailed their bid to assemble
a winning record. Miller hit a deep,
contested three in the waning seconds of
the match, but a victory was still unachievable.
Bob Perks Tournament Game #4 June 4th Gladiators* Loss 14-8 In a rematch with the Gladiators, the Neon
Ballerz quickly surged to a 5-0 advantage.

in the division championship, the Neon
Ballerz couldn't pull out a win and
resultantly, were eliminated from the
tournament.
The Neon Ballerz assembled a 13-9 mark during the 2016-17 IMBA regular season, which equated to 6th place in the Alpha division. They finished the 2016-17 IMIT playoffs with an 1-1 record.
