Here are the main rules for IMBA this season:
-Players must be ready to start 15 MINUTES before the scheduled gametime and there will be a forefit if a team does not have 4 PLAYERS on the court at the listed time.
-Players must raise a hand after being called for a foul.
-Only substitute through the scorer's table.
-INTENTIONAL FOULS (fouling someone without the ball on purpose)- 2 shots plus possession.
-FREE THROW SHOOTING- no heckling or any other methods to disturb the shooter and do not move outside of your outlined lane during free throws.
-TECHNICAL FOULS- 2 shots plus possession. These fouls include reaching across the out of bounds line or touching the thrower while defending a throw-in, vibrating the backboard, delay of game, more than 5 players on the court, calling timeouts when your team has none, obscene language, dribbling a ball off the court while the game is in play, wearing of JEWELRY (piercings/watch/headgear), obstruction of scorer or timer's view (everyone not playing must remain behind the scorers table), disruption of scorer or timer's attention, dunking during warm-ups, and violations of jersey protocol.
-FLAGRANT FOULS- 2 shots plus ball. These fouls include bench fouls (having fans on the bench), obscene gesture/language, and violence (results in ejection). 2 flagrant fouls in the same game = ejection+suspension from next game. If you are ejected you must leave the gym immediately.
-Misuse of facilities, including the locker rooms and other property, can lead to suspension.
-TIMING- 30 MINUTES total of gametime, TWO 15 MINUTE halves for everything except playoff winner games, TWO 18 MINUTE halves for playoff winners. Continuously running clock for first half. Last 2 minutes of the second half is timed and stopping clock unless a team is losing by more than 20 points (mercy rule). There is a three minute halftime and each team has two timeouts, so don't call more than two otherwise it will be a technical foul. Overtime is three minutes and the clock will run continuously. Each team has an additional time-out in overtime.
-Medic Alert Tags may be worn, but taped down.
-POSTSEASON- Top 4 teams from each division will play in a double elimination tournament. Seeding in this tourney will be determined by winning percentage. Ties for seeding will be determined by the team with the least number of fouls.
-For teams placing 5-8 in their division, they will play in the IMIT, a single elimination tourney.
-DISCIPLINE- Make sure to follow all school rules and the refs.
-PREGAME- We can use the main court to practice during pregame.
